Teflon™
Product Summary
The fluoropolymer Teflon™, from Chemours™, is a versatile material with a myriad of applications in the electronics, chemical processing, food & pharmaceuticals, transportation, and specialty industries.
While Teflon™ is best known to the world as the coating that stops eggs from sticking to the frypan, there is far more to fluoropolymers than non-stick coatings, and they come in various forms – including films.
With five film centers across North America – three in the USA, one in Canada and one in Mexico – PolymerFilms is your value-adding authorized distributor of Teflon™. We can provide you with the specific variants you need in the dimensions and quantities you want, and give advice if you need some help deciding which film to choose.
All types come in various gauges. And an invisible surface treatment on one or both sides to enable bonding with adhesive is available for most gauges.
The transparent, thermoplastic Teflon™ films offer unrivaled mechanical, chemical, electrical mechanical, thermal and electrical properties that make them easy to fabricate and apply to a vast range of fields.

Challenges and Solutions
1.
Outdoor structures are exposed to various conditions such as extreme temperatures, moisture, UV radiation, and chemical pollutants. Over time, these factors can lead to corrosion, rust, deterioration, and structural damage, impacting the longevity and performance of the structures. The challenge is finding a reliable and effective solution to protect outdoor structures and ensure their durability and functionality in such demanding environments.
For an outdoor structure located in extreme weathered environments, the use of Teflon™ can protect from extreme weather conditions.
2.
Graffiti can be a significant issue, defacing public and private property, causing aesthetic. Traditional methods of graffiti removal often involve labor-intensive and costly processes, including chemical solvents, power washing, or repainting.
The use of Teflon™ is an efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly solution to combat graffiti and minimize the associated maintenance and repair costs. Teflon™ can also provide a protective coating that allows for easier removal of graffiti without causing further damage to the underlying surface.
3.
You need to protect sensitive electronic equipment in a compact and limited space. In many applications, such as electronic devices, circuit boards, or aerospace components, there is a constant demand for smaller and more compact designs. However, these delicate electronic components are vulnerable to damage from moisture, dust, chemicals, and other environmental factors.
Teflon™ provides a protective coating or barrier that can safeguard sensitive electronic equipment without adding excessive bulk or compromising the limited available space.
4.
Flexible circuit substrates are used in various industries, including electronics, automotive, and aerospace, where they provide the flexibility and reliability required for intricate circuit designs. However, these substrates must also exhibit long fatigue life and high resistance to cracking to withstand repeated bending and flexing without compromising performance.
Teflon™ provides the desired characteristics of long fatigue life and high resistance to cracking, addressing the challenge of producing flexible circuit substrates that can endure rigorous usage conditions.
5.
Chemical plant components often handle harsh chemicals, high temperatures, pressure, and corrosive substances that can degrade and damage equipment and components over time. The challenge is finding a protective solution that can withstand these aggressive environments and effectively extend the lifespan of the plant components.
Teflon offers a potential solution by providing excellent chemical resistance and corrosion protection, reducing the impact of aggressive substances on the equipment. By minimizing corrosion and degradation, Teflon helps to save maintenance and replacement costs, addressing the challenge of maintaining the longevity and reliability of components in chemical plant environments.
6.
Many films have limitations or restrictions imposed when it comes to design and manufacturing capabilities. Limitations may include inadequate flexibility, poor tensile strength, or limited formability, preventing the production of intricate or specialized products like deep cryogenic vials.
The LF film's exceptional drawing enables a greater variety of products to be designed and manufactured, such as deep cryogenic vials, than are possible with other variants.
