(PET) Polyethylene Terephthalate
Product Summary
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) film is a thermoplastic polymer that can be amorphous, crystalline or a mixture of both depending on how it’s processed. PolymerFilms offers a full line of PET film products from world-leading producers like DuPont Teijin Films (MYLAR® and MELINEX®), TC Transcontinental (reflex™)*, MacDermid (Autoflex® and Autotex®)*, and Polyplex (Sarafil).
It is typically offered with a clear coat and a gloss finish but is also available in matte, hazy, and no masking finishes. Its surface can be modified to match textures from very smooth to any desired roughness. PET film is given a clear performance advantage due to its exceptional combination of optical, physical, mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties. PET film material is the perfect choice for applications in the Food and Beverage, Packaging, and Membrane Switch/Overlay, Secure ID/Cards industries, amongst many others.
PET film is among the most environmentally friendly thermo-plastic engineered films and is known to have superb clarity, heat stabilization, low shrinkage, and anti-fog and anti-glare properties. It can also be applied with chemical treatments for improved adhesions to various coatings, inks, and adhesives. It is available in FDA, USDA, 3A-Dairy, and Canada AG compliant grades. The common uses for PET film include all kinds of packaging, face shields, medical devices, driver’s licenses, identity cards, food packaging, capacitors, motor films, wires and cables, labels, industrial imaging, imaging media, flexible circuits, membrane touch switches, RFD, printed electronic displays, and more.
